Falling In Love With All Things Home...Near The Beach

As January winds down and February peeks around the corner, we are beginning to get glimpse of warmer, longer days while still having cooler (or cold) days often seen in Amelia Island and Fernandin Beach this time of year! The cooler weather is perfect for tackling those last winter projects while starting to get a jump on all those spring "to do" items.

And yes...we have already had a very pleasant (somewhat cool) beach days in February!

Simple Tips to Maximize Small Spaces into Cozy Havens

  • Mirror Magic: Use mirrors to reflect light and create the illusion of a larger space. Place them across from windows or light sources for maximum effect.

  • Go Vertical: Utilize vertical storage solutions like shelves, wall hooks, or tall cabinets to free up floor space while keeping things tidy.

  • Multi-Functional Furniture: Invest in furniture that doubles as storage, such as ottomans with hidden compartments or beds with built-in drawers.

  • Light & Bright: Opt for light-colored walls and curtains to brighten the room and make it feel airy and spacious.

  • Declutter Like a Pro: Keep only the essentials and organize your belongings to reduce visual clutter, giving your small space a clean, open vibe. Don't forget to go into your child's room to help them -- make it a game!

Simple Tips for a Cozy Backyard

  • Light trimming and landscaping: Now is a great time to start trimming back certain tree varities. The University of Florida Extension Service puts out a number of informational articles on which plants and how to trim them in anticipation of spring.

  • Get the garden ready: Certain plants and bulbs are great options for the chill seen this time of year, such as pansy, viola, and dahlia. Use mulch as an extra layer of protection from the cold.

  • Fire Pit Fun: Set up a small fire pit for warmth, marshmallow roasting, or just a cozy ambiance on chilly nights.

  • Lush Greenery: Certain trees and shrubs will be in bloom, including red maple and star magnolia.

  • Personal Touches: Decorate with candles, throw blankets, and decorative accents that reflect your personality.

Call to Action: Staying Healthy

While we are beginning to enjoy more time outdoors, we are also in the middle of cold and flu season. Some great ideas for home include:

  • Sanitize door handles (on both sides), light switches, faucets, and cabinet doors often
  • Clean out your medicine cabinet, and remove any expired medications as directed
  • Deep clean your refrigerator, including removing unwanted/expired items and using a safe disinfectant.

If you need personalized tips or inspiration to enhance your home, I’m always here to help. Cheers to another great month in 2025 and one step closer to making dreams into reality
